****Attention Dog Lovers****...Neutering or Spaying... a pet is usually done as a pet is approaching puberty. It can prevent tumours in cats and dogs, and usually makes for a more contented, stay-at-home pet. I have always done this at six months and had very happy pets. They really didn't miss motherhood.

If you need help with a pet problem or wish to help the homeless or maltreated animals with money or adoption you can contact your local spca. You can even go and walk the dogs at some kennels. They always need help in some way. In Ontario you can visit their website at"

Winter Dog Health Info...
Salt and ice can enter your dogs paws when walking in winter and can hurt the delicate pads. Wash with warm water when returning home.
Antifreeze is toxic to dogs. Make sure none is leaking from your car or is left opened where they might drink it. A non toxic product is more expensive, but can be purchased.
An outside dog needs a well-insulated house away from blowing wind. Check water frequently. On very cold nights dogs should be inside not outside. Do not alternate...an inside dog is not used to being outside and will not have the thick fur buildup to keep them warm.

Summer Pet Tips
Pets need fresh air if left in a parked car.
Leave windows cracked open a bit but not enough that they can get out or put their head out and bite someone as they will be guarding the car.
Try to find a shaded parking spot.
Carry a dish of water in the car and have it available.
When outside make sure there is shade.
